Random thoughts on evolution

I was thinking about ants. If evolution is correct then wouldn't ants (and bugs in general) have learned by now that if they get near humans they will be destroyed? Bite a human, die from the swat of a hand. Make a nest near human, it will be walked on. For thousands of years. Or for Darwinians, hundreds of millions of years. And for that matter, why haven't we seen a monkey evolve into a human or have one on record from over the past 5000 years or so? The Stickleback fish has "evolved" so to speak but it evolved within it's species. Let me repeat that: this creature changed within it's species. It did not change species but merely adapted it's body to the water according to it's needs vs. what the water was providing. But is that the evolution that people need to prove? I don't think so. It seems that atheists are trying to convince us that one species (a monkey) can change into another (a human) and therefore there is no God. Sorry, a fish that changes clothes will not convince me.

al-Qaeda beach

I'm a bit hard of hearing so I have the captions displayed on my TV in case I miss something. Well this morning on the news they were talking about Seattle's Alki Beach and the captions didn't write out Alki but rather al-Qaeda. If 9-11 never happened and al-Qaeda wasn't trying to kill us, I bet the caption writer never would've written such a thing. Kinda funny, thought I'd share.

Now a VAT?

So wrong. Soooooooo soooo wrong. A value-added tax (VAT) in this economy is wrong. If we truly needed it for defense or something then it wouldn't be as bad. But the dictator Democrats want to ad a VAT so they can experiment in the worst way-- at other people's expense. It's like one big spending party for them, a teenager with dads credit card who wants to spend before Dad sees the bill. Immoral. Unethical. Just plain wrong.

With budget deficits soaring and President Obama pushing a trillion-dollar-plus expansion of health coverage, some Washington policymakers are taking a fresh look at a money-making idea long considered politically taboo: a national sales tax.

A White House official said a VAT is "unlikely to be in the mix" as a means to pay for health-care reform. "While we do not want to rule any credible idea in or out as we discuss the way forward with Congress, the VAT tax, in particular, is popular with academics but highly controversial with policymakers," said Kenneth Baer, a spokesman for White House Budget Director Peter Orszag.

Which means they aren't saying no.

The federal budget deficit is projected to approach $1.3 trillion next year, the highest ever except for this year, when the deficit is forecast to exceed $1.8 trillion. The Treasury is borrowing 46 cents of every dollar it spends, largely from China and other foreign creditors, who are growing increasingly uneasy about the security of their investments. Unless Congress comes up with some serious cash, expanding the nation's health-care system will only add to the problem.

Key lawmakers are considering other ways to pay for health reform, including new taxes on sugary soda, alcohol and employer-provided health insurance. The last proposal could raise a lot of money -- nearly $1 trillion over the next five years, according to White House budget documents. But options on the table would raise a fraction of that sum. And while it might pay for health care, it would barely dent deficits projected to total nearly $4 trillion over the next five years and to grow rapidly in the future, as baby boomers draw on Social Security and Medicare.

Did you catch that? The VAT will bring in nearly $1 trillion dollars BUT we are expecting a $4 trillion dollar deficit. So it wont even help!!!

The VAT has advantages: Because producers, wholesalers and retailers are each required to record their transactions and pay a portion of the VAT, the tax is hard to dodge. It punishes spending rather than savings, which the administration hopes to encourage. And the threat of a VAT could pull the country out of recession, some economists argue, by hurrying consumers to the mall before the tax hits.

Why do they want to punish spenders?? Why, Why, Why?? Aren't spenders the ones who, oh I don't know, move the economy?? What are they thinking? Are they so disconnected from "flyover country" and think that the only people who buy things are rich people? Don't they know how hard it is for impoverish people right here in the Seattle area to buy food? Over-taxation will ultimately hurt the poor, no matter the intention. If the gov't gets rid of ALL other taxes then I might be open for a VAT that does not include food.

In my oh-so humble opinion, taxing food is wrong. It makes me think of the third world countries like Africa who have war-lords that use food as a way to control people.

And... he's surprised at this?

Shocking-- North Korea is NOT honoring the agreement to stop creating and testing nuclear weapons.

REALLY??? That has NEVER happened! This is BIG news!

In Pyongyang, North Korea said that it had carried out a powerful underground nuclear test — much larger than one conducted in 2006. The regime also test-fired three short-range, ground-to-air missiles later Monday from the same northeastern site where it launched a rocket last month, the Yonhap news agency reported, citing unnamed sources.

And all Obama can say is we must "stand up to" this behavior.

Appearing on the White House steps, Obama said that its latest nuclear underground test and subsequent test firings of short-range ground to air missiles "pose a grave threat to the peace and security of the world and I strongly condemn their reckless action."

He called it "a blatant violation of international law" and said that it contradicted North Korea's "own prior commitments." Obama had released a written statement chastising the North Koreans in the early morning hours of Monday.

Ooooh, so scary!

This is so laughable! It's like Carter all over again! He's probably going to panty-waist around using preschool verbage like telling them "that is unkind" and to "walk away" from their bad behavior.

*Oh yeah?! Launch a nuclear missile above ground and I'll write two letters next time! Take that. (sticks tongue out)*

For all you left-wing nut jobs who will twist my words, I am not suggesting he order a war on them but his constant pandering and dicking around has left threatening enemies unafraid of the US. Reagan had the balls to be strong and use stronger words than "I condemn your actions" and in the end he didn't have to use force to get our hostages freed.

At the State Department, officials said that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was "engaged in intensive diplomacy" on the issue.

Replace the word "diplomacy" with "bending over." How in the hell is "intensive diplomacy" any different than regular diplomacy? Obama should spend more time dealing with international threats such as these in a firm manner rather than pretend the non-threatening, hard-working, generous, content Americans are the enemy. I'm surprised that the media actually wrote a story on this because it detracts from Obama mission as dictator president is to break down America from within by claiming that Americans are the bad guys-- not Korea.

Memorial Day

Thanks to all the troops for their past and current work. The troops that died did not die in vain despite what the left says. They fought for freedom and independence. Many people take liberty for granted because we don't fully understand how life is without it. All the history lessons and views into the daily lives of other countries aren't enough. Can you imagine going to prison for speaking opposition against the president? (for all you Bush-haters, please imagine that.) Imagine going to the grocery store and having only two choices of kinds of bread--not 30. Imagine not being able to see a dentist when someone breaks your two front teeth in half because "free" healthcare in bankrupt and cannot afford to see you. Imagine life where women are oppressed still; 2nd class citizens. Imagine life not as citizens but as subjects, ruled by a tyrannical government who has total control over your life: hair style, clothes, names for your kids, where you live, what kind of car yo drive (IF they allow you to drive), etc.

Liberty is great, ain't it?

Our presidents have made mistakes the past 200 years (no, not just Bush. Come on fools, open your minds a little and look past that) but life is pretty damn good right now. It's not because of the peace corp or trying to chat lovingly to people who HATE us. No, it was because we have the best damn military and that, my friends, is the only thing keeping us from total destruction. We don't go in to war to conquer a nation like the Soviets did nor do we start wars against an ethnic group like the Germans did. We go into to war when we cannot wait anymore. We go into war when we absolutely have to. You know our liberty is at stake when we go to war.

Thank you troops for preserving our liberty. The ingrates on the left would be thankful too (if they were more open-minded) if they could see how blessed we are.

Thank you.

As the left sees it, apparently

Some poor misinformed fool commented on my blog before (using run-on sentences, he/she said the rest of the country would have a higher IQ if the south left the union...riiiight) and said that I am closed-minded. Well I certainly can't let that go. Let me see if I can see the world through your eyes Peacemaker;

Support the war? You are a war-mongerer

Support traditional marriage? You are homophobic

Don't blindly support Barack Obama's policies? You are a racist

Support freedom and individual liberty? You are closed-minded

Eat meat? Killer

Want socialism to fail? You are a terrorist

Christian? You are a religious nut-job

Own/like guns? You are a fear-mongering nut-job

Say anything remotely negative about any single person from the Left? You are a hater

Think that every fetus is an individual human that has a right to life? You hate the right to abort

Believe in the Constitution? You are a radical right-wing extremist

Does that sound about right Peacemaker? It seems to me that if your left-wing cult(ure) is about peace, love and tolerance should be more peaceful, loving and tolerant to those who have different views. You don't have to agree with us just as we don't agree with you. Your cult also believes that there is a gray area in all things, nothing is black and white. So why can't our beliefs fall into that gray area? For example: if we support traditional marriage (man and woman) but don't hate, kill, protest, assault, harass or maim ALL gay people, doesn't that mean we are gray? You probably support gay marriage 100% which would make you either black or white. People, like those (loving, peaceful, tolerant Muslims the left loves so much) in Iraq, who think homosexuality is a crime would be the other end of the spectrum. We conservatives are somewhere in the middle and would deny traditional marriage to gays but not life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I can't see how being a conservative makes me closed-minded when it's the ultra-left who makes disgusting and horrible "jokes" about Rush Limbaugh, our Pro-America Tea Parties, a beauty pageant who simply says she supports one thing (not like she wants to kill the thing she doesn't support) and destroys your "Anointed One's" opponent because she did such a blasphemous thing as run against him. And how about Joe the Plumber? He asks a simple question to Obama and he is destroyed? If the bias (closed-minded) press can cover up for Obama while destroying the life of your average-American, how can we not stick to the gray area when we cn't trust our president?

I read the book Slouching Towards Gomorrah and one thing the author points out is that no matter how we try to cater to the left by compromising our convictions, values, morals, policies and principles, the left will never be satisfied; it will never be enough.

It seems to me that Peacemaker is thinking from a closed-minded point of view which is actually very selfish. It's selfish to want universal healthcare because rather than bring the quality of healthcare up, it will in actuality drive it down. (did you know england can no longer provide life-prolonging drugs to those with terminal illnesses because they are broke?) It's selfish to "go green" because it drives up the cost of energy (heat, electricity, AC, etc.) and oil (for the poor to drive to work at their minimum wage jobs). It's selfish to assume that kids can get along without a stable home life with a mother and father-- no matter how much you love your children, they need a mom and dad to relate to on different levels. It's selfish to say that "if you don't support Obama then you are a racist" because you are depriving US of OUR first amendment right to speech. (shall we show the same respect to your president that you showed to mine?) and for that matter, do you only like the constitution when if benefits you and not us? Most of all, it's selfish to tax the rich to give to the government. I do not envy the material things of the rich. People can be (and should be) happy without a new car or a big-screen TV). I benefit entirely from the free market as a middle/working class citizen. When the rich buy coffee, baristas have a job. When the rich hire a nanny, I have a job. When the rich renovate to their homes, my parents have jobs. How in the hell is stealing from the rich to give to the government going to heal an ailing economy? George Bush may have built the bridge to socialism but Obama need not have herded his cronies merrily across that bridge-- socialism got us into this financial crisis, only capitalism will get us out.

I urge you to read the book about terrorism by Bill Cooper. Also check out:

nefafoundation.org
intelcenter.com
investigativeproject.org

and this will explain how big of a threat the radical-Islamists really are. We did not go into war for nothing and in my humble opinion, Obama should be prosecuted for the crime of treason if he ends the war too soon. (he should be prosecuted for many things in his "transparent" administration but that's another blog).

I get that you hate my right to free speech but love yours. That's ok. That is the benefit of Oklahoma and Texas tearing away from the USA if need be in the future; we will be free and you will be oppressed, a slave to your messianic politician. Peacemaker, you are right about one thing: the IQ will go up and that will be the IQ of the free states of OK and TX, not of the People's Progressive Tyrannic Republic of Barackville.

Oklahoma a sovereign state?

Do my eyes deceive me? Is Oklahoma a sovereign state like Texas? So when SHTF Oklahoma is the best place to be? Will the rest of the south follow? Could this be true progress? Apparently this has been tried before in June 2008 but from what I've been reading I think this passed now as of May 2009. The governor vetoed it saying that they'd have to give back federal money (i.e. the "stimulus" money) but the house and senate went over his head. Good. Another article here. I can't believe it. About freakin' time a state came together to send a message to the swine in D.C.

No more Democrats

Arley and I have discussed these things before but this email puts it into an action plan.

THE PLAN

A. Back off and let those men who want to marry men, marry men.

B. Allow those women who want to marry women, marry women.

C. Allow those folks who want to abort their babies, abort their babies.

D. In three generations, there will be no Democrats.

Damn - I love it when a plan comes together

Gruffy Grumpy Grumble

The weekend was fairly nice. Friday was about 70 degrees. Saturday was cloudy and threatened rain in some areas but it was almost 60 degrees and ended up not raining in North Bend so my hike was great. Sunday was nice too. Sunny and warmish so I needed to apply sunscreen at one point. I joined Stephanie and her pups at the dog park after my meeting. Splendid!

Then it rains. On a Monday. On the first day of a major road closure.

Splendid.

Fireproof

Gotta love Kirk Cameron. Kirk starred in the Christian film Fireproof which is about a couple on the verge of divorce and how their faith in God saved them and their marriage. I'm not married but this film spoke to me. How can you love someone else when you can't love yourself? How can you love yourself when you don't love God? How can people validate themselves by saying all the good they do for others when they don't do good for their own spouse?

One of my favorite lines of the movie:

Caleb: "If there is a God out there, he's not interested in my problems...where has he been all my life?"
Dad: "He's been at work all around you. You just haven't realized it. You haven't exactly given him an open invitation."

Go forth and watch this movie.

I started reading this book called God is Closer Than You Think and this is good quote to go along with this movie: "The greatest moment of your life is now. Every past moment is irretrievably gone. If you live there you lose your life... You can spend eternity waiting for tomorrow or worrying about tomorrow. If you live there, you likewise will lose your life."

Take it one day at a time.

Water

Recommended by my hairdresser, I watched the movie Water tonight. Let me just say tragic. The movie takes place in India and is about the life of the widows. Eight year old Chuyia is widowed by a husband she never met and, as tradition, she is sent to live with other widows in a village where they are outcasts and looked down on. Widows are doomed for a life of self-denial and for them to remarry, think of remarrying, or interacting with non-widows and men is considered a sin. The story shows of a hope for liberation from such damning traditions in our modern world.

I highly recommend it but be aware that it is in Hindi so you'd be reading subtitles which for me personally wasn't that bad.

This movie, the poverty, the "women's shame", and traditions makes me grateful to be an American woman. After being so deeply rooted into this way of life for so long, one of the main characters was dumbfounded to discovered that recently a law was passed saying that widows may remarry. When she asked why they didn't follow it, the religious leader who was telling her this (a man by the way) said that they "ignore laws that don't benefit them." Food for thought.

Anyway, as I was saying I am glad to be a woman in America. But it made me realize how ungrateful Americans in general really are. For example, gay rights activists (radicals), are complaining that they are kept down, have no rights and are discriminated against. What a horrible country we live in. Oh woe is them. Blacks are complaining the same thing and yet we have an ever-increasing number of black people in power (president included) and an ever-decreasing number of discrimination and hate crimes. Last but not least, the femi-nazis complain about the unfair treatment of women in the work place and in power (that means Hillary, they couldn't give a rats-behind about how Palin was treated).

I'm going to say something now and I want all you complaining minority groups to read carefully. Are you ready? Here it goes:

SHUT UP ALREADY!!!

Ok so you can't get married because you are a queer, big freaking deal. No one hates you. No one wants you dead and no one wants you to live as a social outcast in a special home in a village on the river. Black? You make up less than a quarter of the USA population whereas whites make up about three-quarters of the population, OF COURSE some things will seem unfair! It's simply numbers! If you want to grow in number and in power then stop aborting your children. Michael Medved made a good point the other day when a black caller said, "I want white people to fail. I want them to suffer like we suffer." Medved pointed out the numbers and said, "how can 25% of the population succeed if 75% is failing?" Women listen up. It sucks that we make less money. It sucks that men still look down on us on occasion but shut up. We are not suffering nearly as much as the widows in Water. We are free to marry any man we want. We are not pimped out at 8 years old in a place where no one gives a damn. We. Have. Rights.

Again, I feel SO grateful to be an American woman. Such freedom. I wish more people would embrace what we have and stop complaining of what we don't have. Americans did not have easy "luck" in becoming this free and mighty nation. It did not fall in our forefather's laps. Liberty was fought for because they did not want leaders who would ignore laws that do not benefit them. Women did not just happen to become free one day. We had to fight for it. Same with minorities. Blacks like MLK fought hard so that skin color isn't a make-or-break for acceptance. And Queers-- well, you never had it that hard. We learned from these past fights and know that we need to accept people for who they are. We did not become who we are by walking on easy street. Stop feeling guilty about being an American. The best way to help those in need is to be strong yourself. You may have been born into this life of luxury but it was not a gift; it was earned. Have courage. Have faith in yourself, in your country and in God and you can use your luxury to bring good things to others. If we fail tomorrow as a country, then those you want to help cannot be helped.

Everyone needs to see this movie. Then maybe you too will fall in love with America.

Angel who came to me
Please come back and see
How happy I am free
